About Us

We are a retired couple who took early retirement from Trinity House Lighthouse Service in 2004. Although I have had a motorcaravan since 1988 it was only in recent years that we have been able to travel more. We have two older dogs and can not now leave them so for the moment our journeys are somewhat restricted however I'm a great believer in projects so here is a list of those we have done and those we propose to do.

2006 Nordkapp Norway via Sweden and Finland

2007 Denmark via Germany

2007-2010 Coast 6500 miles around the Coast of mainland UK sticking as close to the coast we were able.

2012 to date. Filling in the gaps. We have a map of UK on a door and put pins into every new overnight stop. We saw there were some blank patches and have identified twelve 20mile radius circles that we haven't got any pins in. The project is to fill these gaps. There are 5 in Scotland, 2 in Wales and there were 5 in England but after camping around thetford this summer we are down to four.

Future Pennine Way The Pennine way is an arduous 256 mile walking route that is beyond our modest hiking abilities, however inspired by a map in Wainwright's guidebook we propose to criss cross the route by every crossing road from Edale Derbyshire to Kirk Yetholm in Scotland.

Future Baltic Sea. A route around the Baltic to include Denmark Germany Poland Lithuania Latvia  Estonia (Ferry bypassing Russia) Finland and Sweden

Our Readers

Although primarily I write these for myself as an aide memoire I hope they are of interest to others and if you like what you read visit our guestbook and say so.

History of project

I wrotre my first travel tale as four articles for the Renault Trafic Club's Magazine 'Traffic Report' (RTMR} in 2006 after going to Nordkapp Norway. Later those were republished on the Motorhome Facts website MHF where they were joined by around twenty more written over the next five years. The MHF website is not very Apple friendly so in 2011 I started putting my blogs on here. They are not true blogs ie although I write them as I go I don't publish them as a diary preferring to wait until I can lick them into shape and put them up as a 'finished story'
